Configuring DNS Records for Smart Proxy

Configuring DNS Records to activate the SmartProxy service, all you need to do is point your custom domains to Bablic servers.

If you are using sub-domains (for example;- fr.example.com, es.example.com), you should use CNAME record. If you have purchased other domains you want to use in your translated website (for example;- example.fr, example.es), you should use A record to point to Bablic.

CNAME Settings

A CNAME record is an alias you give to a sub-domain to point to a different domain. We want to point your language sub-domains to seo.bablic.com. The interface for adding a CNAME record is different for each DNS host.
Generally, these are the steps:

  • Sign in to your domain's account at your domain host.

  • Locate the page for updating your domain's DNS records. The page might be called something like DNS Management, DNS Zone File, Name Server Management, or Advanced Settings.

  • Locate the CNAME records for your domain. You may already have one or more records resembling:

  • Add a CNAME record for each language with seo.bablic.com as the value/destination. Or modify an existing CNAME record if the one you want to change is already there.

  • Make sure not to modify your original sub-domain.

  • Save your changes and wait until they take effect.

A-record Settings

A record is an association of a domain to an IP address. We want to associate your custom domains to the Bablic server address - 35.185.7.72
The interface for adding/modifying an A record is different for each DNS host.
Generally, these are the steps (each custom domain must be configured separately):

  • Sign in to your domain's account at your domain host

  • Locate the page for updating your domain's DNS records. The page might be called something like DNS Management, DNS Zone, Name Server Management, or Advanced Settings.

  • Locate the A records for your domain. You probably already have one or more records resembling:

  • Modify your A record so they have this IP address 35.185.7.72
If necessary, create new A records to include a record for each IP address listed on this page

  • Save your changes and wait until they take effect.

Once you have finished the DNS settings, you can click "Verify" in the SEO Configuration Wizard and complete the integration.
